About Me

Greetings! I’m Crystal, and I like warm hugs. 😉

Life for me right now looks like trying to love and feed my hard working husband, Jordan, of 9 years well while homeschooling our hilarious children Evan and Lydia (8 and 5 respectively). Together we enjoy eating tons of popcorn and opening our home as a Safe Family

I enjoy matching pajama sets, reading books on the beach with chocolate (I can dream!!), and the color purple, which makes lots of decisions in my life easier.

I struggle with yelling crazy things at my kids sometimes, with crazy messes that I have no energy to clean up, and with crazy emotions that like to cause inner wars to burst over into reality.

I lean hard on Jesus every day, and I need Him, oh I need Him!

This space is called Unchanging Grace, because anything else I build my hope on will fail me, drop me, elude me. But God’s unchanging grace allows me to…rest.

  •  I can rest in my weaknesses as a wife, because it is impossible to love another human perfectly.
  • I can rest in my failures as a mom, because it isn’t up to me to hold my kids’ life together.
  • I can find contented rest right now, because my worth in God’s sight isn’t dependent on how well I can perform or achieve.

Jesus says: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”   2 Corinthians 12:9

And the Apostle Paul reminds us “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not of your own doing, it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”   Ephesians 2:8-9

As you travel through this blog with me, I will probably repeat myself, because important things pressed into our souls come out over and over. My aim is to relate short thoughts and truths that beg us to go a little deeper in our personal journeys with God on our own.

I hope you will take some time to look up any Scripture mentioned here, letting God’s Word continually run over your heart, and my prayer is that we would all be able to say with Edward Mote, who went to see Jesus face to face in 1874 that:

 My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils His lovely face,

In every high and stormy gale

My anchor holds within the veil.

On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand.
